Winter update and looking forwards…

Waves Shape

Although we haven’t managed to get in the sea yet (not in this country anyway) due to the poor weather, the club has had a busy start to the year. The last few months have seen try dives, new members joining us from other agencies and a variety of training taking place. We’ve had Sports Diver and ADP theory sessions and this training has also continued in the pool at our weekly club nights.
Earlier this month we braved the elements and even Storm Franklin to get a few of our members in the lake to tick off some Sports Diver skills. The rain was horizontal and we had plenty of wave action on the lake due to the wind, so if you closed your eyes a bit and squinted you could almost believe you were in the sea!
All club members were saddened by the news of NDAC (National Diving and Activity Centre) closing as it was a valuable asset for club training. We now have trips booked to Vobster in March and are trying to fit in a Cromhall visit at some point in the near future.
Several members are travelling up to the Go Diving Show in Stoneleigh on the 6th and 7th March and we’re all looking forward to buying some goodies and listening to some of the speakers there.
Now that Covid travel restrictions are less complicated many of us have booked or are looking for the perfect dive holiday. A few trips to Tenerife and one to Mexico are in the pipeline already and we are sure there’ll be a few more being booked over the next few months.
