It’s been a busy season so far for Rhondda Scuba Divers Club. Training has been going well with one of our members (Adam) being the first person in the whole of Wales to successfully complete BSAC’s new Advanced Ocean Diver course. Other members have completed their Sports Diver training, some have just finished their MOD 1 CCR course and are now enjoying longer dives on their new AP Inspiration Rebreathers and one has recently qualified as an Open Water Instructor!
We have welcomed new members to the club this year and in the pipeline we have Drysuit training, Ocean Diver training, Twinset and Advanced Decompression Procedures courses to run. we also carried out a training session with the lifeguards at our pool so they know how we rescue a diver and when to take over from us to play their part.
Dive trips this year have included weekends to Pembrokeshire, Plymouth, Portland and Porthkerris – we do also go to places that don’t start with a ‘P’! We’ve also had numerous outings to Vobster, Spring Valley Lakes, Cromhall and West Wales shore diving.
We also enjoyed our annual club BBQ where food was plentiful, drinks were flowing freely and the hosts choice of music was questionable! A great social event for us to all get together and have fun.
Future trips already booked include more weekends to Portland and Pembrokeshire, a week in Egypt next Easter and a club camping trip to Porthkerris in Cornwall next summer.
